Healing in the Western world is commonly described in metaphors as being more related to war and battles, than as gentle, natural healing. We fight illness, declare war on cancer doctors treat illness aggressively, and we eradicate infection with our arsenal of pharmaceutical weapons. While this war against disease has provided us with some treatments that can be life-saving, it has also created the mindset that illness is always bad and that health is a complete absence of illness.
